Welcome to Medieval Movember!

Medieval hair was a serious business; from ‘barbarian’ beards to kingly locks, the way men and women chose to style their hair told the world around them who they were and who they wanted to be. Similarly it has now become something of a tradition that in November some men grow moustaches for Movember in order to raise money and awareness for mMovemberen’s physical and mental well-being.

Here at REALMS we have decided to join these two elements and to support Movember this year by talking about hair across the medieval period.

Throughout November there will be a series of blogs from researchers at the University of Sheffield discussing hair in their own area of interest. We’ll also be tweeting some Medieval moustaches @MedAndAncient as we go to offer inspiration to anyone taking part in Movember!

We hope that you’ll enjoy reading all about Medieval hair and that you’ll be inspired to support Movember. If you’d like to get involved by writing a blog or you have a Medieval Moustache to show us please contact Hannah Probert at Hannah.probert@gmail.com
